Hike Lower Big Quilcene

The Lower Big Quilcene Trail begins just outside the Buckhorn Wilderness and follows the lower Big Quilcene River along a mostly non-technical tread for approximately 6.5 miles. The moss-lined route starts on an old roadbed through younger forest and then winds past large old-growth cedars. This trail is a great choice during the fall and winter months because the trees provide shelter from precipitation.

Meet at the Park & Ride at 7 am & we’ll carpool from there. Plan to hike up to 13 miles round trip with 1900 feet of elevation gain. We’ll turn around early if we run into deep snow. Bring a NW Forest Pass or America the Beautiful (National Parks) pass, even if you don’t plan to drive. Bring microspikes, your lunch (hot drinks encouraged!), 10 Essentials, & gas money for your driver. Leashed dogs are welcome.
